MIIT Issues the 15th Five-Year Plan for Green and Low-Carbon Industrial Development

To accelerate the green and low-carbon development of industry, actively yet steadily advance and realize carbon peak, and promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the "15th Five-Year" Plan for Green and Low-Carbon Development of Industry (hereinafter referred to as "the Plan").

Centered on fostering and expanding green productive forces, the Plan highlights value creation and capability enhancement, coordinates the promotion of green industry and the industrialization of green, and systematically arranges seven major tasks under the framework of "implementing 1 action, enhancing 4 capabilities, and improving 2 systems." Specifically, it is to carry out in depth the carbon-peaking action in the industrial sector; enhance the capability of creating green value for industry, the capability of supplying green equipment and products, the capability of green and low-carbon scientific and technological innovation, and the capability of intelligent-green integrated development; and improve the industrial resource recycling system as well as the green manufacturing and service systems.

In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will make overall arrangements for the implementation of the Plan, strengthen supervision and evaluation of implementation effectiveness, intensify inter-departmental coordination and central-local cooperation, reinforce support from laws, regulations and standards, increase policy support, and accelerate the cultivation of green and low-carbon talent, so as to ensure the fulfillment of the Plan's goals and tasks.
